Why am I running?

Newburyport is a special place that is strengthened by the talents and voices of its residents.  My name is Shawn Fenn and I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Newburyport’s next Ward 2 City Councilor. I have the experience, knowledge, perspective, and approach to represent Ward 2.

• I am a consensus builder with a proven track record of working with people from different perspectives, views, and backgrounds.

• I have extensive education, experience, and knowledge of local government.

• I am actively engaged as a volunteer in the Newburyport community.

I am running because I love Newburyport and want to share my skills, knowledge, and experience to help make Newburyport an even better place to live, work, and own a business. I will add a valuable perspective on the Council and I have a proven record of bringing people together, building consensus, and finding compromise. I have the best qualifications to represent Ward 2, and will work every day to listen, be responsive, and represent the interests of the ward. I will work to build positive, productive relationships with the rest of the Council and City administration, even if we disagree, and I will advocate for residents and constituents without letting personal grievances get in the way. Serving as a city councilor is an honor, and I would be honored to be your Ward 2 City Councilor.
